Look at the BREAKOUT force at the bucket pins for each brand you consider, not the lift capacity. If one is considerably stronger, I would lean toward it. For me the more power the better, I think you will find the New Holland has the highest breakout. ....

It goes against every thing I stand for but for that tractor the Bush Hog is better. Higher break out and lifting. But I HATE!! Bush Hog. ....

2346qt is what I had found for the tc35 (non supersteer)
vs the 16la. I dont see where bush hog has a higher break out force at the pin. Looks to me like its not even close 2985# for the bush hog and 3166# for the 16La.
Maybe I have it wrong or you are confusing it with anouther loader you installed? In anycase If my numbers are correct Oneace, thats probably anouther reason you dont like bush hog? LOL Besides like I said before, just look at the 2 when they are on a tractor. If you like the look of the 1970's in a pick up truck compared to the "new look" of trucks today, then you may like the look of the bush hog. I don't. Besides with out the right stickers on the rig it just looks cobbled together

I have a question.
Why is breakout force much more important than lift capacity ?
If a loader with higher breakout force can break things loose but will not lift and carry them due to lower lift capacity, what are you gaining ?
Maybe my thinking is all wrong here, I don't know..
....

DK, your question about breakout. As you may know a skid loader lift capacity is rated at 1/2 of its tipping load. Who cares about lift capacity it is just some legal rating blah blah osha blah blah, we all use them to the tipping load, some beyond that like brokenarrow. Breakout is often even higher and if you add more counter weight, the amount you can actually get out of it for lifting is higher. So as for tractors, you just add more weight and you can now lift that load you couldn't before. In my reasons for buying a John Deere, it was one of the higher ranked reasons. I always want max lift for that one big rock, log, etc. in that specific size machine. Sure some guy could increase his hydraulic relief setting, but then you run higher risks of damage. I figure if the factory set it correctly, it should be able to handle it. Especially with all the liability manufacturers have. ....
